Politics

I'm about sick of charisma. People getting away with shit just because they have that intangible something that everybody just seems to eat up...WTF is up with that? Why are others drawn to these seemingly magnetic people? What, possibly, do they have to offer other than anything else any other person has to give? Nothing. They have the "Je ne sais quoi" and that's about it usually. They've skated by, in life, using their silver tongues or good looks to get away with whatever they want having everything handed to them... therefore, they have become emotionally shallow people devoid of any virtue. Now don't get me wrong...I'm not saying everyone ( I try not to speak in absolutes...nothing is absolute) is like this... just the majority of these charmers. And if you truly think about it, you will see what I'm talking about. The handsome or beautiful ones who never form any decent relationships due to the fact that they've never had to form anything longlasting. They always have someone else, right there waiting. They use up the people around them and move on. And then there's the eloquent, persuasive ones, usually able to talk anybody into doing any of their bidding. Like the consummate politician whose smiley glad-hands are ready to level the weak-minded that are just waiting to jump on the outspoken's coattails.

Here is the strangest part of it though. It's the way they make others feel. They induce those feelings in others. They instill the strong emotions that others feel when they are around them. So how is it, they bring out these emotions so thoroughly when they themselves are usually emotionally shallow. Charm should only take them so far but it seems the tentative and uncertain allow them to get away with murder.

hmmm, i agree with your disdain for these types of people.

sometimes i wonder how people like you and i have been able to fight with them on the same playing level. you know what i mean? competing against them merely gives them more power, so to speak. i'm not sure how to explain it... but is it possible that even giving them the acknowledgement and competing against them in whatever situation brings them up to the same level where they don't belong, having not worked to get here? i'm not sure.
i could and very well may be rambling.

good post, nonetheless

I realize in my life i have to work twice as hard as the brown-noser, pay ten times the amount for speeding tickets as the charmer, and speak a hundred times over to gain the same efforts of the beauties of the world.
